Marder, Iltis, Nerz und Wiesel

Marten, polecats, minks, and weasels are agile animals and nimble hunters. They are - perhaps with the exception of the stone marten, which often inhabits urban areas and occasionally causes trouble - difficult to observe. This may be one reason why there is little knowledge about the populations of the various species in many places. Except for the stone marten and mink, there are still many indications of a decline in all other species. Therefore, they have been included in various lists for restricted use or absolute protection at the European level. This book aims to fill knowledge gaps and introduce the hardly visible inhabitants of our cultural landscape. Information about their way of life and habitats, reproduction, diet, and hunting strategies is complemented by stories about coexistence with humans: about hunting these animals.
