Product details

In his mid-fifties, the narrator moves to the countryside to live with his eighty-year-old mother in order to write a novel about theater titled "Shame and Stage." These weeks turn out to be unparalleled and eventful, during which he finds his way out of a deep life crisis with the help of his mother. After being thrown off course by a stroke in Vienna, Joachim Meyerhoff hopes to regain his footing through a fresh start in Berlin. However, everything turns out differently than expected. The new city strains his nerves, and his artistic work as a writer and actor becomes increasingly difficult day by day. At his young son's birthday party, an incident occurs that leaves no doubt that things cannot continue this way. The narrator leaves Berlin and moves to the countryside with his mother, who leads a very self-determined life on a beautiful property not far from the sea. Mother and son have always been very close, but these shared weeks become a special time. The son integrates into his mother's daily routine, begins writing his theater novel and other stories, and gradually finds his way out of the anger and nervousness that have accompanied him throughout his life.
