André Butzer (born 1973 in Stuttgart, lives and works in Rangsdorf near Berlin) became known for his paintings, which he himself describes as "science-fiction expressionism." They are divided into various genres, as he paints "peace Siemens" or "shame people," but also completely abstract compositions. He cites Walt Disney, Edvard Munch, Henri Matisse, Friedrich Hölderlin, and Henry Ford as his role models. Butzer's utopian artistic concept is set in the fictional place "Nasaheim" ("N"), a kind of pilgrimage site in space. However, his paintings are by no means implementations of narrative structures; rather, they express something that could not be said before. They symbolically embody the recurring extremes of history as representations of human existence.
