Mal di pietra

Literally translated, the title is Kidney stones, but that's far too unpoetic, because the Italian title has the 'mal d amore' in it. And the longing for love is what this novel is about. "Mal di pietre" is the life story of a woman born around 1910 in Sardinia, reconstructed by her granddaughter. The special narrative style also creates an image of several generations of women and their strategies for dealing with life and love.
