Magic mistletoe - golden branch

The "all-healing" was the name of mistletoe in the language of the Celts, who saw it as a gift from heaven, and in the poetry of Virgil it serves as a guide through the realm of the dead. The healing powers of mistletoe have also been preserved in modern anthroposophical medicine in its pharmaceutical processing into "Iscador" for the treatment of cancer. With an annotated selection of texts from poetry and tradition, Hartmut Ramm makes the meaning of mistletoe visible from different time and cultural perspectives. In this way, he opens up an approach to the essence of the plant which, beyond the medical aspect, can bring about a becoming-healed again in the soul and spirit. Complementing these linguistic images from two millennia, Jurg Buess succeeds in his photographic encounters with the plant, in all manifestations and developmental phases.
