Männlichkeit (ver)lernen

Men are weak, anxious, poor, rich, strong, fat, thin, violent, affected by violence, peaceful, caring, queer, trans, cis, gay, disabled, BIPoC, and much more. At the same time, men are often responsible for massive and violent restrictions on everyone, as well as being restricted themselves: in perceiving and expressing emotions, in leading intimate relationships, in creativity, and in loving interactions with others. The difference between the diversity of men and the consequences of their behavior is closely linked to how masculinity is lived. This is learned, and this book is about (re)learning. The question is how masculinities can look that are more loving, peaceful, and diverse. This requires a critical and, above all, practical engagement with sexism, violence, sexuality, sensitivity, and diversity. The self-reflection steps in the book are helpful for both self-discovery and self-development, as well as for taking responsibility for one's own feelings, thoughts, and actions. Self-reflection is not just an end in itself; it also shows ways to engage with masculinity in one's environment. This is an important contribution to a more peaceful and diverse world.
