Lyonel Feininger

In Paris, Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956) leaves behind his successful career as a cartoonist and begins a life as an independent artist. Initially, his paintings are populated by grotesque, wild, travesty-like figures inspired by the street scenes of Paris. Shortly thereafter, he finds the typical themes that will make him world-famous.
