Product details
Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956) was a painter, graphic artist and caricaturist. A Bauhaus master from the very beginning, he taught in Weimar and later Dessau from 1919 and moved to New York in 1937, where he worked until the end of his life. In addition to his famous prismatic architectural depictions, the book presents all facets of his oeuvre and the stages of his life, with around 140 paintings, drawings, caricatures, watercolours, woodcuts, photographs and objects from all creative phases, the volume paints an overall picture of Feininger's work, which is examined in terms of its topicality. The lines of development and topics that determined his work are explored in articles by international authors on the basis of key works. His early work as a painter and the latest research on the significance of photography in the Bauhaus master's oeuvre are also particularly honoured.
