Engaging with Collections examines the topic of collecting from a critical perspective that questions and expands previous ideas of museums and archives. The starting point is reclamations that address existing exclusions and attributions in collections, then various collection strategies are rethought.

Against the trend towards media-effective exhibitions and the economisation of collections, the aim is to reassert the importance of collecting in order to rethink it in terms of democratisation, mediation, relationality and immateriality and to anchor it in the long term.

In addition to theoretical texts and artistic contributions, the publication includes highlight-like explanations: Statements by collection makers who create collections &ndash, and at the same time mess with them.
