Product details
Eugen Huber was plunged into a crisis of meaning following the unexpected death of his wife Lina in 1910. For over seven years, the author of the Swiss Civil Code wrote a letter to his deceased wife every day, sharing his experiences and emotions. These personal documents provide a unique insight into bourgeois daily life around the turn of the century and into a highly unusual marriage. The biographical portrait depicts a symbiotic connection on equal terms between one of Switzerland's most renowned jurists and the former waitress Lina Weissert. Initially, he was madly in love, but for many years, Eugen Huber also valued his wife as a collaborator. She played a significant role in his major works. Lina, who had entered the marriage for practical reasons, gradually developed a deep affection for him. This love, which began in Zurich in 1873, sustained them.
