This book provides a holistic, interdisciplinary representation of logistics. It describes the goals, structures, tasks, and processes in cross-company supply networks from both the perspective of the overall logistical network and that of individual network actors. Based on an entrepreneurial and business management viewpoint, concepts and methods, as well as qualitative and quantitative procedures from various fields, are presented and current developments are discussed.

New in the 4th edition: The book has been completely revised and restructured. In addition to terms, definitions, and fundamental relationships, the physical core processes of logistics (TUL processes) are explained as a foundation. The structure is oriented towards the top process framework of the SCOR model. Following practical developments, the special role of logistics service providers is emphasized, and the use of information and communication technology is demonstrated and contextualized.
