In spring 2020, 14 renowned investigative journalists accompanied particularly exposed people through the corona crisis. Among others, our health minister Alain Berset, the epidemiologist Marcel Salathé, a hospital pharmacist, three siblings who lost both parents to Covid-19 within a few days, a nurse who had to coffin the deceased in a nursing home, an emergency doctor who kept a diary during the crisis, but also infected people - among them a mayor of Ticino. In their book "Lockdown," the authors let all these people tell the story of the emotional maelstrom into which the corona virus tore them day by day. They interweave their notes with confidential minutes of more than 50 crisis meetings in the federal government. The result is - within a very short time - a gripping and moving book that takes a new look at something that eight and a half million people in Switzerland have experienced at first hand: A state of emergency. For months. And even if very few of them actually fell ill with Corona: Each and every one of them felt the pandemic firsthand. The 14 journalists wanted to capture the previously unimaginable, but it became more. They have created a differentiated and multifaceted picture of a time that will remain in our memories forever.
