Local Development Planning and Management in Rural Districts of Zambia

The book "Local Development Planning and Management in Rural Districts of Zambia" offers a comprehensive analysis of the management, technical, and financial capacities of the Chongwe District Council. It examines the effectiveness of community participation in the context of development planning, implementation, and management of public services. The study's findings are divided into various areas: management capacity is represented by the effectiveness of service delivery and the qualifications of key personnel in the planning, construction, and finance departments. Technical capacity is analyzed in terms of the availability of equipment for planning, waste disposal, as well as the construction and maintenance of roads. Financial capacity is considered in relation to revenue sources and expenditure patterns. Additionally, the results regarding the effectiveness of community participation are presented in relation to the functions, strengths, experiences, and limitations of local development committees.
