Product details

The war in Ukraine has given the Cold War a new relevance and thus also the literary works of the period between 1947 and 1989, which drew on and participated in the conflicts of that era. The works of Max Frisch and Friedrich Dürrenmatt bear witness to this worldwide. The present studies turn to them, as well as to the topic- and form-rich work of many other authors, including those of later generations, taking into account the entire spectrum of genres, including radio plays. Even the infamous Civil Defence Book of 1969 is examined in terms of its literary strategies. Eleven of the eighteen articles are or were written outside Switzerland, several of them in countries of the former Eastern Bloc. Their outside perspective provides a special enrichment to this volume, which is rich in perspective.
