Product details
The novel is dead, proclaimed the American writer Tom Wolfe at the beginning of the 1970s - it marked the beginning of a new era: that of New Journalism. Wolfe used this term to describe writing styles that lay between literature and journalism, initially found in columns or reports, but increasingly also in new types of novels such as the nonfiction novel. In the German-speaking world, there were also increasingly productive interrelations between journalism and contemporary literature at the same time, where observer positions, reporter figures, literary narrative techniques, methods of alienation, or fictionalization were experimented with. The TEXT+KRITIK special edition focuses on the variations of this German-speaking New Journalism since the 1970s. In addition to individual authors and works from Jörg Fauser to Stefanie Sargnagel, it also examines publication media, privileged genres, and marketing forms of journal literature. Furthermore, the volume includes a poetological text on the relationship between literature and journalism by Moritz von Uslar, as well as an interview about the history of German-speaking New Journalism with Diedrich Diederichsen.
