Anyone who reads inevitably has experiences. This is the simple starting point for overcoming a central problem: far too often, the learning objective of 'objective' interpretation leads to a loss of enthusiasm for reading. This can be prevented by a didactic approach to literary experience: understanding begins with personal reading experience; articulating it in a more reflective way is the real task of literature teaching.
