Product details

Dr. Wilhelm Borchers lived from 1856 to 1925. He studied chemistry and eventually earned his doctorate with distinction at the University of Erlangen. In 1899, he became a professor at RWTH Aachen and subsequently facilitated the establishment of an institute for metallurgy and electrometallurgy, which opened in 1903. He was highly significant in his field, and even today, the Borchers plaque is awarded to RWTH Aachen doctoral candidates who pass their doctoral examinations with distinction. The present work 'Electro-Metallurgy' is a carefully revised reprint of the second, completely revised edition from 1896. In this work, the author discusses the benefits of electrochemistry and electrical engineering for the metallurgical methods of the time, particularly in the extraction of metals.
