The Second World War did not spare the Nielands and their close confidants either. Many years later, the family still feels the losses they endured. Aspiring journalist Isabel, granddaughter of Sofie Timmlein and Edith Nieland, makes a discovery during her research that has far-reaching consequences for the family. Meanwhile, Isabel's cousin Rosa Timmlein is separated from the family due to the construction of the wall.
