Product details

Friedrich Glauser (1896-1938) is one of the most important Swiss authors of the first half of the 20th century. His work, which has lost none of its relevance and literary power to this day, emerged from Glauser's difficult life circumstances, the network of psychiatry, police, and authorities, as well as his stays in institutions, his flight to the Foreign Legion, and his entanglements with morphine addiction. This volume offers even Glauser experts a new perspective. It delves deeply into the author's world through letters - including numerous new finds - reports, literary and psychiatric assessments, and documents. The volume unfolds a collage of different, sometimes contradictory voices that reveal Glauser in all his complexity regarding the circumstances of his time, his creative process, and his life. More than half of the documents are unpublished, particularly the transcripts of conversations with his guardian: here, for the first time, one hears Glauser speak, unfiltered and directly in touch with the events.
