Into the open!

Since his youth spent in Upper Swabia, Peter Hamm has been connected to Swiss literature. As a poet, writer, critic, and friend, he traveled across Lake Constance to St. Gallen, Zurich, Biel, and Niederbipp. From an ideal mix of proximity and distance, he repeatedly produced outstanding texts about Swiss authors, knowledgeable, profound, and inspiring. For the first time, these partially unpublished texts are now gathered together, creating remarkable images of Swiss literature and perhaps even a small psychogram of Switzerland. Themes of flight and return, of paths outward and inward, or of silence run through this gallery of authors, ranging from Robert Walser to S. Corinna Bille, from Regina Ullmann to Philippe Jaccottet, from Jakob Schaffner to Adelheid Duvanel. And always, they are invitations to authors.
