Friedrich Glauser not only processed his difficult life through literature but also documented memories of significant events in writing. These accounts are always brilliantly written and demonstrate a great psychological insight and deep understanding of life. Often, the reports are characterized by a laconic calmness and radiate warmth even when he resorts to satire. For instance, he recounts how individual pedagogy at the Landerziehungsheim Glarisegg by Lake Constance did not always yield the desired results. He also shares his perspective as one of the few Swiss actively involved in Dada, providing an insider's view of the beginnings of this movement. In a similarly unique manner, he describes the gathering of life reformers and artists in Ascona and candidly writes about dark times, such as his experiences in the Foreign Legion or in France.
