Scandal-ridden, labeled as the Kamasutra of antiquity, misunderstood as a cynical dating guide, and revered as great poetry: Ovid's Art of Love. The very fact that he wrote a book on the art of seduction in the noble form of a didactic poem may have outraged some contemporaries. Ovid himself claimed that the Art of Love contributed to his banishment from Rome - the poet, who longed for the splendor of Rome until his death, died in exile by the Black Sea.
