Lichtspiele

Following Guntram Vesper's century novel "Frohburg," the author's prose was published under the title "North of Love and South of Hate," and his poetry appeared in "Tieflandsbucht," both by Schöffling & Co. His collected essays are now presented under the title "Lichtspiele." This edition of essays and reports constitutes the collected works of this significant writer. The core of the volume is formed by the selection "Lichtversuche Dunkelkammer," published in 1992, in which Vesper reflects on his essayistic work up to that point. This is particularly supplemented by essays published after 1992, mainly from the particularly prolific late phase of his career triggered by the success of "Frohburg." The volume, edited by Thomas Schaefer and featuring a foreword by Andreas Platthaus, gathers texts about writing, stories, places, portraits, and books, showcasing the alert and curious spirit of Guntram Vesper, who passed away in 2020.
