Product details

Nietzsche in the Mirror of Depth Psychology Carl Gustav Jung's (1875-1961) engagement with the philosophical tradition can be described as a psychological reinterpretation of philosophical concepts. By semantically recontextualizing these traditional concepts, Jung not only succeeds in finding terms for previously unknown phenomena but also allows for a more precise associative determination of content. Based on this principle of appropriation, Martin Liebscher attempts in this book to trace the influence of Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy in C. G. Jung's thinking through concrete comparisons, such as between Nietzsche's concept of the will to power and Jung's notion of libido, or between Nietzsche's understanding of appearance and Jung's reality of psychic contents. At the center of the investigation is the seminar series on Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
