This work is an introduction to the extensive equipment technology of distribution networks. The requirements for electrical installations and equipment for distribution networks are constantly increasing from various areas, such as legislation, safety technology, economics, reliability of power supply, environmental protection, spatial planning, customer requirements and, more recently, due to the energy transition. The technology of distribution networks and thus the plant technology in public networks and in industrial networks has long since ceased to be a static matter; instead, the specialists in this technology are required to adapt to constantly changing conditions. In addition, the individual specialist can no longer assume that he or she will have to fulfill the same function within the company over a long period of time, but must be flexible.
