Leuoth:Blaues Tuch

At the beginning of the 19th century, Burtscheid is not yet part of Aachen and serves as a center for the changing textile industry. It is a time of transition from traditional craftsmanship to machine production and industrialization in cloth manufacturing. Seventeen-year-old Katharina grows up in a wealthy family of cloth manufacturers in Burtscheid and becomes embroiled in the conflicts of rebellious cloth workers who are fighting unconditionally for their status. She shows sympathy for the liberal ideas of the workers, and their self-assured leader, Hein, increasingly captivates her. Ultimately, a catastrophe occurs that fundamentally changes the young woman's life.
