Product details

Imagine a world in which you could be judged "immoral" for your actions, not only towards others, but also towards yourself. Who would want to live in such a world, where nothing of what one is, thinks, or believes, where none of our activities, even the most solitary, would stand up to moral judgment? This is, in fact, what ethics proposes today, largely rallied to the maximalist theses of an Aristotelian perspective, which recommends an art of living and not only a code of good behavior in society, and Kant, for whom we have moral duties towards others as well as towards ourselves. It is to ignore the ethical alternatives, the minimalists, for whom the moral world, less invasive, is limited to the desire to avoid being disloyal to others. The entire history of ethics today is the history of the opposition between maximalists and minimalists.
