Lernwerkstatt Mittelalter

This interdisciplinary learning workshop gives children an insight into the Middle Ages. Through numerous learning opportunities, children engage with the everyday life and experiences of people from that time. They learn, among other things, how craftsmen, farmers, and knights lived, worked, and resided. By comparing the past and present, children have the chance to establish a connection to their own reality. Content includes: Kempen - a medieval town, crafts in a medieval town, the shoemaker, clothing, laundry day, waste disposal, farmhouse, the workday of a farmer's child, idioms, writing on wax tablets, the abacus as a calculating tool, daily life in a castle, attacks on a castle, the life of knights, and much more.
