The textbook for the training of road construction workers builds on the learning fields of the basic level and presents a comprehensive, real road construction project that encompasses all learning fields of the specialized levels I and II. This approach makes the learning material tangible for students, allowing them to overview the individual tasks without losing sight of the connection between all construction tasks. Numerous examples and exercises promote holistic, student-active learning. Thus, the book is optimally tailored to action- and competence-oriented teaching, with realistic images supporting the learning success.

The project involves the development of a commercial area between residential buildings and a federal highway. Existing roads need to be expanded, extended, and new commercial streets constructed. A ring road will be created, with its connection to the federal highway via a roundabout. The road space design includes sidewalks, parks, and tree plantings. Green zones will be established as compensation areas. The complete site plans, the elevation plan, and the sewer layout plan of the project can be downloaded and viewed.

The 2022 edition has been updated to reflect the latest developments in technology and standards in both text and images. The following changes from the previous edition are particularly noteworthy:

During the revision, illustrations were replaced or updated. In Learning Field 7, the topic of "Frost Impact" has been revised, and examples of standard plans according to the current RSA have been presented. Learning Field 8 has been supplemented according to the new DIN EN ISO 14688-1 national annex (naming and labeling of soils). The section on "Slope Stabilization and Landscape Construction Work" has been revised according to the new DIN 18918 (Vegetation Technology in Landscape Construction).
