Vertigo

Achmad, a corporate photographer at an exclusive hotel in Cairo, witnesses the brutal murder of a friend during an assassination attempt on two rival businessmen in the Vertigo bar. He manages to capture the event on camera before he can discreetly leave the scene. He hands over the explosive footage to a newspaper, whose editor-in-chief plays a significant role in the pervasive web of corruption, intrigue, and clientelism. Suddenly, Achmad finds himself ensnared in this network that reaches the highest echelons. He is forced to go into hiding, as his ruthless adversaries stop at nothing. With "Vertigo," Ahmed Mourad established the political thriller genre in Egypt in 2007. The book was adapted into a television series in 2012.
