Born on January 28, 1940, in Lucerne. Studied music history and theater studies in Bern. Lived as a freelance writer and actor in St. Gallen until his death in 2003. Guido Bachmann received several awards for his works, including the Basel Literature Prize in 1990 for his entire literary oeuvre, the Literature Prize of the Canton of Bern in 1997 for 'life sentence', and the Book Prize of the City of Bern in 1998.
