Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, born in March 1960 in Sainte-Foy-Lès-Lyons, studied piano in Lyon and philosophy in Paris. Initially a lecturer in philosophy at the universities of Besançon and Chambéry, he began working as a writer for theater, film, and television in the early 1990s. His first prose publication in German, 'Monsieur Ibrahim und die Blumen des Koran,' captivated hundreds of thousands of readers.

Reclam's "Foreign Language Reading Keys" follow the proven structure and presentation principles of the reading keys for German literature. They refer to the foreign language original text (if possible in Reclam's Red Series), but are written in German and also support the reading of the German translation.
