AHO 11: The new issue examines the extent to which the services of the HOAI reflect the planning and implementation process when applying the BIM method. The possibilities of Building Information Modeling that go beyond the basic services of the HOAI performance profiles are additional and special services in the sense of the HOAI. These must be contractually agreed upon and evaluated before execution so that they can be claimed against the client. In the planning phase, more data is generated using the BIM method, resulting in initially higher effort. Efficiencies usually arise in the phases of tendering and awarding contracts, as well as in workshop planning and construction execution. Furthermore, planning and construction conflicts, delays, and legal disputes can be reduced. A key prerequisite for the advantageous application of the BIM method is the coherent commissioning of services. When there are changing service providers, the effort required for remuneration increases accordingly. The previously published literature on the application of BIM often assumes ideal processes. This issue now bridges the gap between traditional planning and the use of the new planning method.
