Product details

Starting from selected themes of Cognitive Science, a bridge is being tested to a perspective on human thinking as it can be derived from Heidegger's interpretation of human existence as being-in-the-world. Everything that exists reveals itself to humans against the backdrop of a familiarity with things. This familiarity requires a call to awaken, which Heidegger diagnoses as part of a process of dislocation. If human thinking is situated within the irreconcilable tension between familiarity and unfamiliarity, then humans would not be able to describe a state that precedes such a tension. This can be illustrated retrospectively through Plato's ambiguous engagement with writing and prospectively through Derrida's différance. The consequences of dissolving that tension, as evidenced by the repression of death, are highlighted using the example of posthumanism.
