New potentials and applications of digital media are often explored with enthusiastic support and a sense of discovery. At music colleges, digital tools have long become indispensable and are part of everyday study life. Amid these processes characterized by upheaval and transformation, the contributions presented here shed light on current and future designs for the collaboration between humans and the digital sphere in relation to learning and teaching at music colleges. In addition to the diverse potentials offered by new software and hardware, new knowledge and communication models are particularly addressed, along with some doubts about a linear notion of digital progress in a profession that is uniquely shaped by shared presence.
