Lehrbuch des Lovari

Learning Objectives: Solid grammar knowledge, mastery of a basic vocabulary of around 1,600 words, communicative competence for the key areas of modern colloquial language, the ability to handle simple everyday conversations, and the ability to read and write simple texts in Romani. Concept: The textbook is systematic and practice-oriented, starting with an introduction to the pronunciation of Romani. The subsequent 22 lessons each consist of an introductory text in dialogue, narrative, or text form along with a vocabulary list with German translations, a grammar section, and exercises on grammar and vocabulary. In addition to sociocultural topics, the dialogues address authentic everyday situations, introduce fundamental grammatical phenomena, and convey a variety of useful phrases. The appendix provides an answer key, a glossary of textbook vocabulary, and a bibliography with recommendations for further study of Lovari.
