Learning objectives: Sound knowledge of grammar, mastery of a basic vocabulary of around 1,600 words, communicative competence for the most important areas of modern colloquial language, mastering simple everyday conversations and being able to read and write simple texts in Romani. Concept: The textbook is systematic and practice-oriented and begins with an introduction to the pronunciation of Romani. The 22 lessons that follow each consist of the introductory text in dialogue, narrative or text form, including a vocabulary list with German translation, a grammar section and exercises on grammar and vocabulary. In addition to socio-cultural topics, the dialogues deal with authentic everyday situations, introduce basic grammar phenomena and teach a variety of useful idioms. The appendix offers a solution key, a list of textbook vocabulary and a bibliography including recommendations for further study of Lovari.
