The Indonesian language, Bahasa Indonesia, serves as the national language of the Republic of Indonesia and is the means of communication for a large ethnic diversity with approximately 250 regional languages.

Learning objectives: To convey the four fundamental language skills: understanding, speaking, reading, and writing at levels A1-B1 of the European Reference Framework.

Concept: The 17 lessons are organized around thematic focal points that reflect the realities of Indonesian life and are of great importance in the coexistence of people. Each lesson consists of three parts, each related to the lesson's topic. Part I: Dialogue(s) and vocabulary, cultural notes, and exercises. Part II: Contrastive grammar and exercises incorporating the learned vocabulary. Part III: Reinforcement and deepening of previously acquired language skills (vocabulary and grammar) through structured exercises, translations, free dialogues on the respective lesson topic, and an essay as a concluding element.

The answer key, the German-Indonesian and Indonesian-German vocabulary lists, and the audio recordings facilitate self-study.
