Product details

Dream team or infernal duo. Gion Mathias Cavelty and Chrigel Farner are collaborating for the first time to present a picture book that packs a punch. The story of little Nemorino, who gets lost in the world of tarot cards and must face great adventures, is as humorous as it is eerie. Cavelty's text shines with intelligent dark humor, and Farner's illustrations, with their darkly surreal quality, are all standalone works of art. For the first time, Nemorino is allowed to visit his grandmother, who lives far away in a forest with an unpronounceable name. Soon, he notices nighttime visitors who have his grandmother lay tarot cards from the major arcana. One night, Nemorino sneaks into the living room and opens the mysterious box of tarot cards. There, he hears a voice from the chimney. The little dog Fetiza misses its fool, who is depicted on one of the tarot cards. All that remains is the fool's bundle, from which one can conjure anything imaginable. Although the fool has gotten lost before, this time it seems more serious than usual. Death appears to have taken him. Nemorino and Fetiza set off on a giant steam-powered apricot dumpling machine in search of the fool. On their journey, they encounter the figures from the tarot cards. They meet the mercenary Star, the pregnant Moon, and the newspaper-reading Sun. With the help of the fool's bundle, Nemorino outsmarts the Magician, the Devil, and the Hermit one by one. And finally, there comes the great showdown with Death.
