Product details
Heinrich Seidel (1842-1906) was a railway engineer by profession, but gave up this activity in 1880 to devote himself entirely to writing. The humorous stories about the Berlin petit bourgeois Leberecht Hühnchen, written between 1880 and 1893, were his greatest success. Chicken, like Seidel Ingenieur, lives with his family in modest circumstances, but knows how to be happy despite adverse circumstances. What sounds naive and idyllic proves to be a highly effective strategy against the impositions of the rapidly growing industrial city of Berlin at the end of the 19th century.
