In age-appropriate excerpts from Seneca's Epistulae morales and Cicero's philosophical writings, the major questions of human life (death and mortality, happiness, friendship, fate vs. free will, the existence of God, etc.) and the ancient authors' answers to these questions are discussed. The focus is on the representatives of the Stoa and Epicureanism, but other ancient and modern thinkers also have their say. The edition is conceived from the students' world of life and interests and encourages them to think and philosophise for themselves.
