With a range of new ideas, scientists are grappling with the understanding of the living. These ideas range from highly refined models from the school of neo-Darwinism to creationist explanatory approaches that closely adhere to the biblical creation story. Within this spectrum, the religion-neutral approach of Intelligent Design (ID) lies approximately in the middle. Dorian Schmidt describes an approach that also seeks to understand the living and, in its theoretical part, is somewhat aligned with the ID approach. However, it fundamentally differs from all the mentioned approaches in that it does not seek a knowledge model for facts found in a classical scientific manner, but rather seeks new facts through a newly developed capacity for perception.
