Memoirs of a German Painter - Autobiography by Ludwig Richter. Adrian Ludwig Richter (1803 - 1884) was one of the most significant German draftsmen, illustration artists, and painters of his time. His enduring popularity today is rooted in his folk-inspired depictions of the lives of ordinary people and his outstanding landscape illustrations. In 1836, he took on a teaching position at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, and in 1841, he also became a professor of landscape painting. Ludwig Richter passed away in 1884 at the age of 81 in Dresden. His son Heinrich published this autobiography along with diary entries and letters in two volumes in 1895. This is a reprint of the original edition, Volume 2 from 1895.
