Product details

When we reach a certain age, it is important to revisit the book of memories from time to time. This is an exercise we should all undertake before it's too late! In "Life. My Story," Pope Francis tells the story of his life for the first time, based on the events that have shaped humanity—from the outbreak of World War II in 1939, when he was almost three years old, to the present day.

"Life" is a journey through the decades, tracing the key milestones of our time through the Pope's memories. These include the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Videla coup in Argentina, the moon landing in 1969, and even the 1986 World Cup, during which Maradona scored a goal that went down in history as "the Hand of God."

The book is filled with the memories of a priest who shares his personal perspective on the Holocaust, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the great economic crisis of 2008, the collapse of the Twin Towers, the pandemic, the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, and the conclave that elected him as Pope Francis. The "papa callejero" opens the treasure chest of his memories to recount these moments that changed the world with the openness that characterizes him.

At the same time, Francis shares important messages on major current issues such as social inequalities, the climate crisis, war, nuclear weapons, and racism. The voice of the Pope alternates with that of a narrator, Fabio Marchese Ragona, a journalist and Vatican expert, who describes the historical context in which the Pope has lived. "Let us learn from history so that we do not repeat the mistakes of the past." Pope Francis.
