Systematic acquisition of skills
In the fourteen chapters of the book, the topics of the curriculum are each developed under a subject-specific competence. In this way, content is always linked to a competence:

• Each chapter contains a double page for acquiring skills, on which an example is used for learning and practising in an application task.

• 14 learning tasks support the skills course and offer opportunities for differentiation.

• Goal formulations at the beginning of the chapter and test pages to check and apply what has been learnt at the end of the chapter create transparency for learners and boost their motivation.

Three steps to understanding texts:
The findings of reading research are taken into account throughout. All texts are developed and processed in three steps:

• Activate prior knowledge

• Developing the text

• Further work: Establish follow-up communication

Differentiation in ethics lessons
For fast learners:

• In-depth double page &ndash, additional questions and/or more challenging material

• Learning task extra &ndash, depending on the chapter, content and/or skills can be deepened

For individualised work:

• Learning tasks for individual task solutions

• Several sections per topic offer opportunities for a division of labour

• worksheets with graded help or additional offers under the codes.
