Product details

We are living in the Anthropocene - because man has become a geological factor.signature of this new stage of Earth's history is the violation of planetary boundaries by man. This threatens the present life on earth and not least the human civilization itself. This affects first and foremost the poor and the exploited all over the world and especially in the countries of the South. Therefore, in the Anthropocene, the old question of justice is posed with new sharpness and in a new form.

In order to avert impending disaster, a systemic change of those social and economic modes that dominate the globe is necessary. We need a culture of sustainability that has the courage for a 'cultural revolution' (Pope Francis). But there is no blueprint for the necessary socio-ecological transformation. Ways to achieve it must be sought - and religious communities are indispensable in this search. Christian theology and the churches can also make a decisive contribution to the success of this search. In the Anthropocene, this becomes one of the churches' main tasks.
