League of Legends. Die Reiche von Runeterra

The Realms of Runeterra is the first official companion book to one of the world's most successful online games: League of Legends. Illustrated with beautiful maps and character portraits, the book contains descriptions of the landscapes, history, and heroes of the game world of Runeterra. The Realms of Runeterra is structured like a researcher's notebook, examining the unique culture that characterizes each of the thirteen factions of Runeterra in chapters. The book is fully illustrated in color and describes the politics, key figures, architecture, as well as the flora and fauna of each region. Each chapter includes a brand-new short story that provides insight into the life and history of each faction in the world. Players can dive deep into the League of Legends universe here; and for dedicated fans, the maps and notes also hint at what the world of Runeterra has to offer in the future.

League of Legends (LoL for short) is a computer game developed by Riot Games. With around four million monthly players, LoL is one of the largest and most well-known online games in Germany. In the classic game mode, two teams of five players each compete against each other. Players take on the roles of champions from the game world of Runeterra. This book describes the countries and history of Runeterra and its champions.

The League of Legends World Championship: Since 2011, Riot Games has been hosting a LoL World Championship, which took place in Berlin in 2019. Starting in January 2020, the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) will be held in Berlin. In the realm of esports, LoL is a leader: The semifinal match of the 2019 World Championship was, according to esports charts, the most-watched esports game ever. A total of up to 40 million viewers worldwide follow the tournaments.
