Le système des objets

The objects in particular do not reveal their meaning through their materiality and practical function. Their diffusion based on the purposes of production, the incoherent ventilation of needs in the world of objects, and their subjectivity to the versatile dictates of fashion: all this must not lead us to think that objects tend to be constituted in a coherent system of signs, on the basis of which only a concept of consumption can be elaborated. This is the logic and strategy of this system of objects, where a deep complicity is created between psychological investments and social prestige effects, between projective mechanisms and the complex game of models and series, which are analyzed here.
