Erwin Sommer, a respected citizen of his town, leads a peaceful life. He is the happy owner of a flourishing agricultural produce store and has been married to Magda for quinze years. However, a series of professional disputes and major tensions in his couple make him lose his temper. He then discovers the plight of jealousy, the joys of debauchery and of oublie. Lucid about his dependence and his lameness, Sommer continues, despite everything, to make the choice of alcohol in anticipation of his death.
