Product details

Layla, an abused street dog from Istanbul, ends up in the depths of the Bavarian Forest, where her new owners, Oliver and Uwe, run a small hotel. Despite their efforts, the two initially struggle to gain the trust of the frightened dog. The narrator, Phoebe, a cheeky stray from Croatia, helps them as much as she can and accompanies Layla on her journey, at the tragic end of which she becomes a four-pawed heroine. Phoebe takes the traumatized dog under her wing and helps her navigate the complicated world of humans. She also teaches Layla how to outsmart Oliver and especially Uwe, for example, to sneak out for an unauthorized trip into the woods or to score some extra treats – but Layla proves to be not particularly quick to learn in this regard. It takes a long time for the two men to build a bond with their new family member. The reason for this becomes clear when a shocking experience from Layla's past in Istanbul is revealed. What exactly happened there will not be disclosed here. Just this much can be said: In the end, everything will be alright!.
