Laurence Rasti - Wall as Horizon

As part of the fourth photographic investigation Neuenburg 2023-2024, Laurence Rasti delved into the La Promenade prison in La Chaux-de-Fonds. There, she encountered life paths largely shaped by precarity and exile. The photographer engages in dialogue with inmates, researchers, and theorists, questioning a form of incarceration that seems more focused on poverty than on crime. Rasti's research is based on an artistic and collaborative approach, where the inmates themselves take photographs with pinhole cameras and transcribe interviews. The affected individuals are at the center of this photographic work, which reflects on the connections between prison, precarity, and migration. These are themes that are closely intertwined and hold significant societal importance in the case of a prison like La Promenade in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
